Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney ended his 12-game goal drought in the Premier League to help fire his side to a 3-0 win over a sorry Sunderland outfit.
The 29-year-old doubled United's lead from close range after the interval, following Memphis Depay's strike in first-half injury time.
Juan Mata completed the scoreline late on for the Red Devils as Louis van Gaal's side leapfrog Manchester City into top spot.
